Reviews
Fabulous place for birdwatching and we had great views of the Lesser Yellowlegs. The volunteers on the meet and greet were brilliant and helpful to new visitors and people new to birdwatching. We had a very interesting chat with the volunteer as we left, a lot about Peregrine falcons as well as other things. Hopefully back later during the winter.
Visited on New year's Day 2024.
Very busy, but weather good . Had a lovely walk around the reserve watching thousands of birds. Brilliant site with helpful wardens.
The new cafe is superb with a good selection of hot food drinks, cakes and sandwiches.
All cakes are homemade, the scones are delicious.
Cakes vary in price from £2.50 to £4.50, the cheese and fruit scones were £2.95.
See photos (taken 1/Jan/2024) of menus for other prices.
Entry for adults including parking is £3.
Absolutely love it here. Lots of walking routes to pick from so even when it's busy it doesn't feel crowded. So many birds, it's a must for anyone interested in birdwatching. The visitor centre has friendly and helpful people to help you and the cafe is lovely.
A good nature reserve but it lacks any signs on the main approach roads, this would have improved our visit. The new café is very nice with big windows so you can view the wildlife on the reserve whilst having a drink or food. The noisy chiller unit was a bit off putting. Was given a map of the reserve and there seemed to be a few different walks that you could do. We only walked around to the 360 hide which was very busy with people bird watching and found it hard to view from if you couldn't sit down, it would be improved dramatically if you could view from windows if you are standing up! We will try to visit again when it's not so busy so we get a chance to see things.
What a beautiful walk. Incredible views, and well maintained.
Parking is good, and close to the visitor centre and start of both walks.
Had some of the homemade cake and coffee in the visitor centre which was great. Incredible views if you want to sit in, or more if you want to walk.
Both short and long walks can be had, both of which have Bird Hides. Brent geese everywhere on our visit, fantastic.
Loved every minute of our visit. Staff friendly and helpful. Birds did not disappoint. First hide had twenty Spoonbills, black winged stilt and young, ruff and sandpipers.
As a member of the rspb I try to visit different sites each month and just like all the sites I've visited it was worth the journey and membership.
I arrived about 11am Sunday morning with the wife and 2 kids aged 7 and 8. We …
A nice reserve for bird watchers. Three hides are present for bird watching and photography. My favourite hide is 360°. Onsite toilet facility and car parking available. A well maintained reserve.
